Photographic comparisons of landscapes from different periods of time give us clues about the anthropogenic and physiogeographical changes in the earth’s surface. They show us how the landscapes looked in the past and how they are currently shaping the earth. Landscape photographs are indispensable for future generations – especially due to increasing environmental degradation. That is precisely why continuous documentation and a public photo archive of the earth’s surface are relevant. This data archive has existed since 2013 and is constantly being updated.
